Nashville Hot Chicken
Ingredients:
Makes 4 Sandwiches
Chicken:
- 4 pieces of chicken breast (pounded or cut thin) or 4 chicken thighs
- Dill pickle slices
- Mayonnaise
- Brioche buns (toasted)
Flour Mixture
- ½ cup flour
- ½ cup corn starch
- 1 tsp. granulated garlic
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. black pepper
- 1 tsp. Nashville chicken rub (add more for more heat)
Egg Wash
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 Tbsp. hot sauce
Finishing Glaze
- ½ cup hot oil from frying chicken
- 2 T Turbo Trusser Nashville hot rub
- 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
Directions:
- Heat peanut oil in frying pan or deep fryer (enough to cover chicken pieces)
- Bring oil to 325 degrees
- Dip chicken in egg wash and dredge in flour mixture 2 times
- Fry chicken in oil until golden brown
- Remove chicken from oil and set on a wire rack
- In a small bowl add all finishing glaze ingredients and whisk
- Spoon 2 Tbsp of glaze on each piece of chicken
- Transfer chicken to a brioche bun with mayo and pickles
- Serve
